Studio Arts
The High School Studio Art program introduces students to a wide range of artistic options. Students learn to use more sophisticated materials and also develop their skills in a variety of techniques. Observed classes in both drawing and painting help develop skills that make it possible for them to express themselves more clearly. Life drawing classes push students' technique even further. Students also tackle projects that involve 2D and 3D design ideas and printmaking techniques. The history of art is woven into all classes, either by specific projects or as an essential learning tool as students investigate their own ideas. The High School studio art program is open to all students, whatever their level of interest, background or skill. Some students want to dabble in the visual arts; some produce significant portfolios that they use to aid in admissions to mainstream colleges and universities; and still others are committed to a career in the arts. Students in all grades are welcome in the studio! |
