The 90s
Mary Christine Gazella ’99 majored in English and American Studies and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Fairfield College in Connecticut. Scott Paris ’99 graduated from Gettysburg College and has joined LREI’s Alumni Council. Zac Posen ’99 donated a beautiful dress from his design collection to LREI’s Big Auction.

The 80s
Hope Levy ’80 is Co-President of LREI’s Alumni Council and her son George starts in Sandy’s 4s this month. Robert Rosenthal ’80 is stepping down as Alumni Council President but will remain active as Executive Vice-President of the Alumni Council, in addition to being a Trustee. Eric Dinallo ’81 was the subject of an April 7, 2003 New Yorker article, “The Investigation” about his work with New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and their pursuit of Wall Street investment advisors who promoted stocks knowing they had little value. Max Becher ’82 co-authored an op-ed piece in the NY Times on June 21, 2003. Amy Forman Barron ’84 had a daughter, Lily born October 24, 2002 and has a three year old son Sam. Kara Stern ’84 worked for 8 years at LREI and is now the Middle School Director at Calhoun. She remains in touch with Justin Gubar ’84, who is a producer with ESPN, and with Barbara Kiss ’84 who just completed her Masters in Social Work. Ruth Marian Bond ’84, daughter of Jean Carey Bond ’55 was married to Seth Lawrence Miller in New York City. Ruth is a lawyer in San Francisco. Armon Bar- Tur ’87 works at Morgan Stanley and is Co-President of LREI’s Alumni Council.

The 70s
Peter B. Baird ’70 writes, “Still playing with dolls (puppets) for fun and profit – still marching (again) – it reminds me of my days on Charlton Street – different millennium same cause!” Sari Havas Max- Fiss ’70 was married in 2002 and her son, Benjamin Franklin Max graduated from Trinity College. Robert A. Liben ’77 works for the U.S. National Science Foundation as a Network Administrator on the research icebreaker, Nathaniel B. Palmer in Antarctica. Becky Sallar ’78 sends greetings to all her buddies in the class of ’78.

The 60s
Greta Berman ’61 writes, “After a recent divorce, have moved back to NYC. It is a joy to live 5 minutes from Lincoln Center where I teach at Juilliard.” Greta would love to hear from classmates, gwberm@aol.com. Marcia Cohen ’68 published and co-edited a book, “Gender and Groupwork”. She and her husband live in Portland, Maine with their Bernese Mountain Dog. Marcia is a Professor at the University of New England School of Social Work. Fifty years ago, Bass Lake Farm, a summer camp in Altmar, New York, was founded by Leo Shapiro (Little Red’s shop teacher) and Will Stodt (playground director). Until it closed about 1964, the camp was a favorite with many LREI students. In August 2002 Stephen Bonime ’62 and Vittorio Maestro ’64 met with another camper, Ellen Tremper (who went to public elementary school and Forest Hills High School in Queens). Ellen had just recently driven to the former camp location to see what had become of it. What once were fields are now woods! The 50s
Karla Kuskin Bell ’50 has a new children’s book of poetry published by Harper Collins called “Moon Have You Met My Mother.” David Berk ’50 is “still singing and playing.” Astrid Beigel ’54 is looking forward to the 50th reunion of the class of ’54. She is well, working and involved in a variety of mental health activities on the national level. She hopes to hear from classmates. Michael Steig ’54 has retired as Professor of English at Simon Fraser University. His third grandchild was born in May, 2003. Jean Carey Bond ’55’s daughter, Ruth Marian Bond ’84 was married to Seth Lawrence Miller in New York City. Ruth is a lawyer in San Francisco. Avi Wortis ’55 has received the prestigious Newberry Award for Children’s Literature for the best book published in 2002, titled “Crispin.” It is his 50th book. Julie Arenal ’56 is choreographing, “Stepped in What”, NY in 2003 and “Venus Attacks” in LA in 2003. Dennis R. Connolly ’58 moved his office to Princeton from the World Trade Center where his office had been on the 100th floor. 293 of his friends and colleagues were killed. Since then he taught a semester at Harvard Law School and then the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He trained for the NY Marathon and has run the equivalent of twice around the world. David Gottesman ’58 has been homesteading in the Adirondacks, raising goats, and making cheese and butter. He writes, “Elisabeth Irwin prepared me to do this!” Susan Inge Gould ’58 is teaching. She remembers the great days with her class. She has two sons, a granddaughter and a couple of horses and dogs. Judith Ogull Kennedy ’58 is enjoying retirement in the mild weather in New Mexico. Jane Cohn Waldbaum ’58 retired as Professor of Art History at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee last year. She has been elected President of the Archaeological Institute of America in January 2003. Roberta Wallitt ’59 retired after twenty-five years of teaching in public school. She is now in a doctoral program at the University of Massachusetts in multicultural education.

The 40s and The 30s
Ann Sickels Mathews ’40 sadly writes that her husband, Troup, died on Easter Sunday of 2002. Her email is arsmathews@aol.com. Barbara Stix Lipke ’39 is a storyteller and an educational consultant. She would love to hear from other ’39ers.

In Memoriam
