Our Advancement Program

As an independent school, we rely on the generosity of our families and friends. Gifts of all kinds and all sizes are greatly appreciated. Below are ways your voluntary support can impact our community and your family’s experience at LREI.
Ways to Support LREI
The Fund for LREI
The Fund for LREI, the new name of the Annual Fund, is the cornerstone of the school’s fundraising efforts. Each year, LREI relies on unrestricted Fund for LREI contributions to provide educational resources for students and faculty not covered by tuition alone. Your gift is an investment in LREI's remarkable educational experience.

Building for Action
Capital campaigns raise funds for major building projects and renovations, increased endowment funds and other substantial needs that fall outside of the scope of our annual operating budget. Learn more about our most recent campaign, Building for Action.

Director’s Initiatives
From time to time, our administration identifies a particular program or facility need and will seek funding from the LREI community. These restricted gifts are for a specific purpose and are separate from the Annual Fund.

Legacy Gifts
Legacy gifts most often are made through a trust, annuity, insurance policy or bequest. The Elisabeth Irwin Heritage Society recognizes members of the community who make charitable provisions for LREI.

Matching Gifts
Many companies will match employees’ gifts to non-profit organizations. To take advantage of these programs, ask your Human Resources department for a matching gift form, then complete and return it to LREI with your gift.

Volunteer Opportunities
In addition to essential financial support, we rely on the tremendous volunteer spirit in our community. Whether creating a school-wide event or joining a committee, acting as a class parent or organizing one of our annual auctions, dedicated parents make our community who we are.

Meet Our Team
Ryann Imperioli
Director of Annual Giving

Ryann joined our Advancement team in 2010. She manages and strategizes the LREI Annual Fund, including our phonathons and faculty/staff campaign, as well as planned giving and our biennial Art Auction. Before coming to LREI, Ryann was a fundraiser for NYU after serving on their Undergraduate Admissions committee for four years. A former competitive figure skater, Ryann continues to stay active by training for the occasional 5K or half marathon and swimming. In her free time, she also enjoys the many fantastic restaurants and cultural institutions in Brooklyn, where she lives with her husband. Ryann volunteers as a Big Apple Greeter, with the Church Ave BID and the First Presbyterian Church in the City of NY.

Peter Martin

Peter joined our Advancement team in July 2016. Most recently, Peter was the Director of Communications at the Saddle River Day School and worked in Advertising at CNN in Midtown Manhattan. A creative and strategic thinker, he leads our internal and external communications, as well as manages the voice of the school to ensure that all messaging is consistent with our progressive mission. A native New Yorker, Peter is a proud graduate of the Horace Mann School and Fordham University at Lincoln Center. An avid hockey fan in his free time, he also enjoys reading and writing at the beach, staying active in Central Park, and traveling.

Elisabeth Ingwersen Mendez

Elisabeth is the Alumni & Events Manager. Her role includes planning the Big Auction and engaging LREI’s vibrant alumni network through special events. In addition to working at LREI, she teaches English and computer classes at Voces Latinas—an organization dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS and domestic violence in Jackson Heights, Queens. Prior to LREI, she worked in the Business Development department at Foundation Center and has over a decade of experience working with immigrant communities from the Pacific Islands, Asia and Latin America.   In her free time, Elisabeth enjoys volunteering, creating vegan recipes and exploring NYC's diverse boroughs.

L.J. joined our Advancement team in July 2014, after one year as Director of Development at Seacrest Country Day School in Naples, Fla. LREI is his third New York City school, having served as Director of Development at Mary McDowell Friends School from 2008-2013 and at The Churchill School and Center from 2005-2008. In addition, L.J. is on the faculty of Independent School Management’s Summer Institute and Advancement Academy. In his free time, he loves going to the theater and spending time with friends.  

Kate Peck

Kate came to LREI as the Advancement Associate in July of 2012. She provides support for all fundraising events and activities and primarily works on the Building For Action campaign. Previously, she was an assistant at the not-for-profit organization, Hedge Funds Care, Preventing at Treating Child Abuse, where she worked on the events and development team. In her free time, Kate enjoys reading and horseback riding.

Violeta grew up at LREI before attending Vassar College. She is thrilled to be back at LREI, keeping in touch with alumni and thinking of new ways to bring our community together. When she is not in the Advancement Office, Violeta works in theater and enjoys dancing.
