Liv '18 Advances to Shakespeare Finals

LREI
Monologue master represents LREI
High school student Liv '18 is advancing to the finals in the 2016 New York English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition after placing in the top four during the semi-finals, held this week at the New York Public Library in Bryant Park.

Liv represented LREI at the competition with students from other New York City-area schools. She performed a Shakespeare monologue and sonnet and advances to the finals at the Morgan Library, on Thursday, March 10, 4-6 p.m. At the finals, students present a cold reading of a monologue, in addition to their other selections.

In celebration of the Bard, LREI participates in the competition every year, holding an on-campus competition first where students perform selected Shakespeare monologues during lunch periods and teachers serve as judges. The first place finisher then moves onto the community competition at the New York Public Library in Bryant Park. Congratulations to:
Liv R. '18 - First Place
Eliana C. '17 - 2nd Place
Violet S. '16 - 3rd Place

Wish Liv good luck! Read more about the ESU National Shakespeare Competition at http://www.esuus.org/newyork/about/shakespeare_competition.
