*The end date is a Thursday. Summers at LREI programs do not meet on Friday, July 4 th .
This workshop is for children ages 9 (or going into Fourth grade) and up who get a thrill out of singing, dancing, and devising stage characters, and want to focus on learning more about these essential musical theater skills. Students will work on dance and music numbers from their favorite shows, complete with scene work and character development. Music and scenes will be selected with the interests of workshop participants in mind, and tailored to build skills. On Thursday, July 3 rd students will share their work in a showcase performance format, followed by clean-up and celebration. Everyone is a star of the showcase in this workshop!
Putting on a Show for ages 7 and up July 7-July 18
In just nine days, students put on an abridged version of a well-known musical. Past productions include: "Robin Hood," "Alice in Wonderland," "Peter Pan," and "Oliver". Campers are cast on the first day and rehearsals begin in full swing on the next. In addition to learning lines, lyrics, and dance steps, the group works together as a true ensemble, warming up each day with theatre games. Each actor is also involved with making props and the set. The highlight of the camp - the performance - takes place on the final Friday, July 18 th , followed by clean-up and celebration.
A hot lunch is provided Monday-Thursday; we ask that campers bring a bag lunch on Fridays.
