The major entry point for high school admission is Ninth Grade. Families should begin the Admissions process one year before they would like their child to attend the school. We encourage all interested families to attend a morning tour or an evening open house and to submit applications as early as possible to facilitate scheduling parent/student interviews. Please note that interview space is limited.

ISAAGNY High School Common Writing Topics:
    1. Schools are an excellent platform to give students the tools and space to embrace other cultures to help fight systemic bias and racism. If you had the opportunity to meet with your school leaders to implement or identify meaningful and helpful ways to make a difference, what would it be?

    2. Describe one of your favorite family traditions and why it is meaningful to you.

    3. What have you learned about yourself during the Covid-19 pandemic (as a learner, as a family member, as an individual, or as a community member)?

    4. What is something you would like to learn more about (knowledge you would like to gain/a skill you would like to develop)? Why do you want to learn this? How will you develop this expertise? What resources would you need to accomplish this? Who will you enlist to help you?

    5. Since it's an election year, consider this: if you could run for ANY public office, what would it be and why? What would your platform be?

  • Testing

LREI will not require an admissions test (ISEE or SSAT) for high school applicants for Fall 2021 enrollment. We do require a writing sample as a piece of the admissions process. Applicants may fulfill this requirement in one of three ways. First, you may submit the essay from the SSAT or ISEE. Second, you may submit a graded essay that has been completed in the current school year. Third, you may complete a short, timed essay assignment that will be virtually proctored by the LREI admissions team. Note that you only have to submit one writing sample to complete this requirement. If you are submitting a graded essay, please forward it in PDF format with the applicant’s name in the subject line to

If applicants choose to complete LREI’s timed essay, please make an appointment to complete that assignment when you schedule your interview. If applicants choose to use an essay from the SSAT or ISEE, you should be aware that we only use the essay as a component of your admissions application, not the test scores. If you would like to opt in to take an admissions test, please see the information below about signing up for the ISEE or SSAT, including LREI's school code.

    • To schedule the ISEE, please visit the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) website or call ERB at 212-672-9800. Please select LREI as a school to receive your student's scores by entering our school code: 336195.
