    Alumni Reunion Weekend | June 1-2, 2018

    All alumni of Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School, including non-graduates, are invited to this special annual celebration. Class years ending in “3” and “8” are especially encouraged to attend the reception on Saturdayevening as we celebrate these Reunion landmarks.
    All festivities will take place at 40 Charlton Street.  
    Events are free of charge and open to all LREI Alumni. Can’t make it to Reunion? Send us a message to share with your class!

    5:30 p.m. - Alumni Cocktail Reception to honor the retirement of two longtime LREI teachers Larry Kaplan and Mark Bledstein. All classes welcome!

    Saturday, June 2 

    11 a.m. - Walking tour of historic Greenwich Village with LREI School Historian Nick O’Han

    12 p.m. - Archive Session hosted by LREI School Archivist and parent Yukie Ohta. Help us identify photos from your time at LREI in our vast photo archive

    2 p.m. - Bob De Cormier Sing-a-Long & Tribute with LREI Music Teacher Susan Glass. Join us in celebrating the life of Bob De Cormier

    3 p.m. - “Queens Girl," A performance by this year’s Distinguished Alumna: Caleen Sinette Jennings ’68

    4:30 p.m. - Tour of expanded high school facilities with Director Phil Kassen

    5 p.m. - 33rd Annual All Alumni Reception Honoring Classes Ending in 3's and 8's. Distinguished Alumna, Caleen Sinette Jennings ’68. Honorary Alumni, Kasey and José Picayo

    StoryLab, LREI’s ongoing oral history project, will be open from 1-6 p.m. for alumni to record memories from their time at LREI. The photo booth will be open from 2-6 p.m.

Past Reunion News

Reunion 2017: The 32nd Annual Alumni Reunion took place on June 2-3, celebrating classes ending in “2” and “7.” Alumni families, current, and former faculty, and current families gathered together for a weekend of celebration.

This year, we honored Sara Fishko ‘67 as the distinguished alumna and LREI teacher Adele de Biasi Pelz as the honorary alumna. Sara presented audio and video excerpts from her work on “The Jazz Loft” story. She discussed the process of developing the story from research to radio to film. Adele led an archive session with LREI parent and archivist Yukie Ohta where alumni identified photos from their time at the school.

Former LREI history teacher and school historian, Nick O’Han, led a walking tour of Greenwich Village highlighting locations frequented by Elisabeth Irwin and LREI’s connection to this vibrant neighborhood.

Reunion 2016 
honored Ambassador James I. Gadsden ‘66 as the distinguished alumnus and former LREI school historian and teacher Nick O’Han as the honorary alumnus. Nick lead a tour of Greenwich Village, with the help of his former student Celi Khanyile-Lynch ‘09. Ambassador Gadsden led a discussion titled Diplomacy, Foreign Affairs, and How to Effect Change, moderated by his mentee Ana De La Cruz ‘10. We were happy to welcome alumni families, current, and former faculty, and current families to join in this weekend of celebration.

Reunion 2015
 honored cinematographer Tom Hurwitz '65 as a distinguished alumnus and former Associate Director of LREI, Michel de Konkoly Thege, as an honorary alumnus. Reunion festivities included a screening of Tom Hurtwitz's documentary Tiger Tiger, followed by a talkback. We also introduced StoryLab (our ongoing oral history project), and welcomed current and former faculty and staff to celebrate Reunion with LREI alumni. Reunion 2014 included a special Pete Seeger Music Tribute, featuring musicians from multiple LREI classes, including: Michael Vandow ’57, Eric Weissberg ’57, Peter Spelman ’64, Joe Solomon ’64 and Joshua Gallup, Max Vazquez ’69, and Eytan Mirsky ’79. Watch the group performing "Down by the Riverside":
