Cross country wins ISAL championship
Big win for LREI at Van Cortlandt Park
The LREI Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country Teams both won the 2015 ISAL League Championships today at Van Cortlandt Park, the fourth consecutive championship win for the boys and third for the girls.
It was also a big win for individual LREI athletes. Twelfth grader Otilia and tenth grader Ian both won individual championships. This is Otilia's second time winning the individual championship. Ian, Jared, and Finn ran personal records.
This week the girls team also celebrated a first--being ranked in New York state. Milesplit.com, the nation's premier network for high school track & field and cross country, ranked the LREI Varsity Girls Cross Country Team seventh among all Class D size schools in New York.
Noting the team’s successful performance at the
Brown University Invitational over the weekend, Milesplit.com mentioned LREI in its weekly highlights. "Few teams made any big moves, so the rankings look very similar to last week's, with most of the movement happening in the smaller classes and highlighted by the high up entrance of a Little Red Schoolhouse squad (also known as Elisabeth Irwin HS) into the charts."
