NAIS features LREI Middle School
Sixth Grade Medieval Pageant gains recognition.
The National Association of Independent Schools featured LREI’s Middle School Medieval Pageant on their Inspiration Lab website.
The annual spring event, which transforms the middle school into a medieval town, is the culmination of the Sixth Grade’s yearlong study of the Middle Ages. Sixth graders represent different “guilds” that fit their individual interests and connect their studies in art, science, math and drama.
NAIS highlights the pageant’s creative, interdisciplinary approach to learning and its balance of both individual and group work. In the article, LREI Middle School Principal Mark Silberberg notes the sustained inquiry the project encourages and LREI Director Phil Kassen talks about one of the study’s themes, the movement from childhood to adolescence.
See this year’s Sixth Grade Medieval Pageant in action on Wednesday, April 9, beginning at 5:45 p.m.
