Major entry points for Lower School are the Fours and Kindergarten; however, we do accept applications for non-entry years. Families should begin the admissions process one year before the student wishes to enter.

    Post-deadline applications for Fall 2024 entry are open.

    Complete an online application in Ravenna by December 1, 2023. There is a non-refundable application fee of $75. A fee reduction is available upon request to the Admissions Office.

  • Visit Us

    Spring Tours of the Lower School are on Thursday, April 25 and Thursday, May 2. Registration will be available via Ravenna in early April.

    LREI offers tours and virtual information sessions to families interested in the Lower School. We strongly recommend that prospective families attend an admissions event to learn more about our dynamic program and progressive approach.

  • Testing

    LREI does not require the ECAA test, administered by the Educational Records Bureau, for Lower School applicants.
  • Financial Aid

    We offer financial aid to students in grades Fours through Twelfth Grade. Financial aid decisions are made independently of admissions decisions, and awards are based solely on financial need. All financial information submitted is kept confidential. Applicants interested in applying for financial aid should check the appropriate box on the application. Financial aid applications are due by December 15, 2023.

  • Decisions & Notifications

    Admissions decisions are based on the written application, interview, student visit and school report. Decision notifications will be posted on Ravenna according to the guidelines set by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Notifications will be sent via email from ls-admissions@lrei.org. Please set your email account to accept emails from this address as well as admissions@lrei.org.

  • Instructions for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Applicants

    Parent Interview and Student Assessment
    Once your application has been processed, the Admissions Office will call to schedule a parent interview and student assessment.

    LREI will offer parent interviews for lower school families both in-person and via Zoom.  

    Students will be scheduled for an in-person playgroup.  Families will be joined by an LREI community member to learn more about our program.
     
    Official Transcript and Teacher Recommendations
    Candidate Evaluation Forms are required for all applicants to LREI. Forms are confidential and must be sent directly from the applicant’s current teacher/school to LREI.

    First through Fourth grade applicants will be scheduled for an in-person individual assessment with one of our Lower School teachers.

    Candidate Evaluation Forms are required for all applicants to LREI. Candidate evaluations are confidential and must be sent directly from the applicant’s current teacher/school to LREI. An official school transcript is required for all applicants to First through Fourth Grade.

Birthday Requirement

Applicants to the Fours and Kindergarten must be four years old and five years old, respectively, by September 1 of the year they begin our program.

Note to Kindergarten Applicants

Should we reach our capacity for Kindergarten interview appointments before the application deadline, additional Kindergarten applications will be placed in a wait pool on “active hold.” Any applicant family placed in the wait pool will be notified. If interview appointments become available, we will contact families in accordance with our school’s mission and enrollment goals.
