Mala Beckhoff has worked as a learning Specialist in all three divisions of LREI. After receiving a degree in illustration from Parsons School of Design and an art education certification through Bank Street College, Mala began her career teaching art in San Francisco. This is where she discovered her passion for teaching, as well as her interest in helping children with learning difficulties. That interest led her to receive extensive training in Alphabetic Phonics, a multi-sensory language program designed to help children with dyslexia, and ultimately back to Bank Street College where she received her Master’s degree in Education & Special Education. In addition to working at several independent schools in the city, she has maintained a small private practice in New York City and Jersey City, where she lives with her two daughters.
