This commitment is central to building and sustaining a community that is diverse in many ways; one in which all students are seen, heard, and treated fairly.
Through inclusive tuition practices and other intentional institutional policies, we work proactively to ensure that every member of the community can participate fully in school life and access all that LREI has to offer.
The foundations of democracy and of our school are built by daily habits of recognizing the rights of those who differ from ourselves.
-Elisabeth Irwin, founder of LREI
The Equity and Community team designs and organizes student programming across every division, including affinity groups, special events, and visits from outside speakers. The team also leads professional learning opportunities for faculty and staff, supporting their ongoing work to develop the skills and practices that foster a genuine sense of belonging throughout the student body.
Families are an important part of this work as well. Through the LREI Parents Association, parents are invited to participate in a variety of discussion groups, and the Director of Equity and Community facilitates regular community conversations on topics relevant to the broader parent community.
Community building at LREI includes and supports all members of the school community, and this work helps shape every aspect of school life.
