Rachel Bennett

Rachel is a professional dancer and actress, certified yoga teacher, and published author.
She has led ballet classes and creative movement to children ages 3-14 at Arlington Dance Theatre and Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre. Rachel has been dancing since she was 4 years old. In high school she was chosen to dance in NYCB’s “Sleeping Beauty” at
Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and studied under Pamara Perry, former Soloist with the Joffrey Ballet. She earned her BA from Hunter College, where she studied with Twyla Tharp, Limon, Nikolai and Cynthia Oliver. A ballet student at STEPS for twenty years, she’s studied with Gelsey Kirkland, Kyra Nichols and takes professional ballet three times a week with Nancy Bielski. 

Additionally, Rachel is the founder and owner of Rachel Bennett Yoga, teaching yoga to children
and adults in their homes, as well as group yoga classes at Equinox and in work spaces. 
She has studied acting with Kathleen Turner, Wynn Handman and the William Esper Studio. Performing credits include dancing in “The Stephen Foster Story” in Japan, acting in
“Broken City Wall Street” with Pop Up Theatrics and played the role of Shirley in "Mildred Pierce” on HBO.  She studied writing at Oxford University and her essays have appeared in The Rumpus and Bust Magazine. She now lives on the Upper West Side with her wonderful
cat, Simba.
