Thursday's (9/28) Assembly on Immigration Policy and DACA was coordinated by Kalli J. '18, the VP of Social Justice. She brought in two guest speakers:

Crystal Fleming:
Crystal is the Coordinating Attorney in the Immigrant Protection Unit where she leads the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and Unaccompanied Children’s Project. She supervises and mentors attorneys representing immigrant children in Immigration Court and Family Courts throughout New York City. She also represents clients in a variety of immigration matters, including asylum applications, removal defense litigation, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status applications, adjustment of status, U-visas, and VAWA self-petitions. Crystal previously served as a Staff Attorney in the Immigrant Protection Unit and joined NYLAG as a justice AmeriCorps Fellow representing unaccompanied minors in removal defense.

Christine Zhou:

She joined the community engagement team as an AmeriCorps member and works to connect and support every immigrant community in each of the five boroughs. Together with local community leaders and fellow agencies, she coordinates Know Your Rights forums to inform residents of services that New York City provides immigrants-including legal aid and workforce development and housing.  Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office she worked as a legislative intern in Ireland where she worked on the campaign trail for the 2016 Irish elections, which she credits as being the catalyst for her decision to work in community engagement and development.
