    Students will be introduced to chess openings, chess tactics and strategy, and more advanced endgames. Much of our work will be focused on analysis of famous games, or more recent grandmaster games, and we will draw our lessons from in game examples. The online tools available to us are perfect to have a fun and engaging chess class even though we are not physically sitting across from each other. This class will work best if all students sign up for a free chess.com account.


  • Secret LEGO Laboratory (Remote)

    We will begin all of our LEGO classes the same way - with our "Opening Salute" in which kids transform into "secret agents." Then I will catch them up on the weekly story of how they are using LEGOS to help save the world from the evil Professor Snot Rocket. This session the commanders are deep sea diving to stop the Professor from using underwater creatures to take over the world! Then the kids will expand their building skills and creativity using the LEGOS they have at home to complete building challenges related to the story. After that, we will play games (i.e. - categories, superhero name game) to improve focus, listening, and thinking on our feet. If there's time we do another fun LEGO challenge, then it's time for LEGO clean-up and a closing salute to transform them back into students.
